When you had an item about stove fires in your column, it did not include potholders. My aunt fixed dinner, cleaned up and put everything away. Later that night, the family smelled something burning. After a search, they found the potholders smoldering in the drawer. If they hadn't been home, the house might have caught on fire. Please remind readers, just to be on the safe side.
Wow -- this is a first for this column! Who would have thought? Glad all is okay.
Now that I'm a senior and wear glasses, taking money from my billfold without my glasses on can be difficult. So, I arrange each bill with the president's face toward the back of my billfold and the large denomination number showing when I open it. Makes it easy to see what bills I'm taking out.

My hint is for any lady who has trouble finding her keys in her purse.
I am always able to grab my keys quickly because I have them attached to a small stuffed-animal key chain.
The animal is light and soft, so the keys do not settle to the bottom of my purse.
Also, they are easy to identify by touch when I reach in without looking.
I am not a cook, but I did fix some chicken in the pressure cooker and wanted to save the stock.
My wife didn't have a fine mesh strainer, so I strained it through a plastic one that didn't work too well.
After wiping out the strainer, I put a coffee filter in the bottom of it and re-strained the stock. This worked really well.
Here is another deviled-egg idea.
I make them just as my mother did, with mayonnaise, a little mustard and a sprinkle of paprika on top.
But I found that adding a few tablespoons of softened cream cheese to the mixture stabilizes and firms up the base, making it easier to fill the egg whites.
It does not change the taste and actually stretches the amount of filling you will have.
