National Gallery Opens Concert Season

The National Gallery of Art kicks off its 63rd season of free weekly concerts Sunday at 6:30 with a performance by the National Gallery Orchestra. Angel Gil-Ordonez will conduct Schubert's Overture in B-flat and Dvorak's "Serenade for Strings" and "Czech Suite." Scribble, Scribble, Scribble

Authors, journalists and other writers read from and talk about their works during the Jewish Literary Festival through Oct. 12 at the D.C. Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St. NW. Fair Weekend in Waterford

Historic homes will be open for tours, Colonial-era and Civil War reenactors will pitch camps and stage skirmishes, more than 160 artisans will demonstrate their skills and show their works, and entertainers will perform traditional music and dance at the 61st annual Waterford Homes Tour and Crafts Exhibit Friday through Sunday from 10 to 5 throughout the 1733 Quaker village of Waterford, Va.
