Tweeds and other rough fabrics such as boucle are everywhere this season.
"It's so, so, so hot for fall," says Jenn DeBarge-Goonan, style expert at Marshalls. Look for tweed with faux fur trim on collars and cuffs, flower appliques, leather and ribbon trim and frayed hems and cuffs. Also trendy are bags, hats, shoes, pants and blazers, an alternative to the jean jacket, says Ilana Kashdin, co-owner of B Scene boutique in Potomac.
"The great thing about tweed is it looks fabulous either dressed down or dressed up," says DeBarge-Goonan. Pair a tweed blazer with jeans and stilettos or a tweed coat and belted dress with a knee-high boot.
"This is so easy to wear for anyone across the board," says Kashdin. "It's not super young or super old. Just fresh for fall."
