One more debate: animation or live-action? . . .

* "Maya & Miguel." Here's a cartoon your parents might okay, even on a school day. Watch the everyday adventures of the 10-year-old bilingual Santos twins -- and expand your vocabulary along the way. (Airs weekdays at 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on WETA-Channel 26 and 4:30 p.m. on MPT-22.)

* "Postcards From Buster." You also can learn some things from Arthur's pal. With a mix of animation and video footage, the Marc Brown bunny explores the country. (Airs weekdays at 3:30 p.m. on WETA-26 and 6 a.m. on MPT-22.)

* Like reptiles? "Austin Stevens: Snakemaster" presents a new one every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Animal Planet. This week's subject: the giant perentie lizard of Australia. Eew!

* Speaking of scary . . . The Goosebumps series has gotten the jump on the Halloween season with the DVD release of "The Haunted Mask II," "Night of the Living Dummy III," "Welcome to Dead House" and "The Werewolf of Fever Swamp."

* Gamers: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is out this week for Game Cube.
