Supreme Choice

* John G. Roberts Jr. is President Bush's choice to be the next Supreme Court justice.

Roberts, 50, currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (one rung below the Supreme Court). He is no stranger to the high court, having clerked and argued cases there.

The nomination, announced late Tuesday, now goes to the U.S. Senate. If senators approve, Roberts will become the nation's 109th Supreme Court justice, replacing Sandra Day O'Connor, who recently resigned from the nine-member panel.

Dressed for Success?

* Do your parents make you dress up if you're going someplace special? If you were going to meet the president, for instance, would you spiff up a bit?

Some Northwestern University lacrosse players are feeling the heat for wearing flip-flops to the White House last week.

"It mortified me," said one player's mother after she saw a photo of the team with President Bush. Four of the women in the front row wore flip-flop sandals -- although, as one player noted, they were nice flip-flops.
