Due to a production error, some copies of today's Food Section, printed in advance, were printed incorrectly. In those copies, the local roti round-up is on the front page and is repeated inside. Also in those copies, errors occurred in the front-page stories about lasagna, roti in Trinidad and wine.

"You have to like messing with food" to make roti, says Addie Green, owner of Islander Caribbean, a local eatery that makes up to 150 of the stuffed pancakes a day. To miss the mess, or a trip to Trinidad, a few hometown solutions:

Rita's Carryout--3332 Georgia Ave. NW. 722-1868. Open Monday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; closed Sunday. Fillings include shrimp, chicken, beef and goat, from $3.25 to $3.50 per roti.

Sugar and Spice Bakery--6838 New Hampshire Ave., Takoma Park. 270-2248. Open Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Potato, chicken and beef roti range from $2 to $3.

Sweet 'N Spicy--8482 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring. 588-7080. Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; closed Sunday. Rotis come plain, with curried potato, curried eggplant, chicken, mixed vegetables, goat, beef or shrimp. From $1.35 to $4.50.
