In the Good Old Days, Before Fast Food

Travel back in time and become Betty Homemaker of the 18th century. Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., a class in the kitchen techniques of the 1700s will be conducted at Cherry Hill Farmhouse, 312 Park Ave., Falls Church. Like the Good Old Days, Before Break Dancing

Join the crowd in Culpepper June 13 for the Country Market and Square Dance Festival. The market, which will feature fruits and vegetables, home-made strawberry shortcake with whipped cream, biscuits and local specialties, will begin at 6 p.m. The square dancing, called by Ralph Case, will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is free. Farmers' markets in Manassas and Prince William County start up this month. The Manassas market, at the corner of Center and West Streets, opens June 18, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and continues weekly on Thursdays. The Prince William market, at the Dale City Commuter Lot, near intersection of Dale Boulevard and Minneville Road, begins June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and continues weekly on Sundays. Come to sell ($15 reserves your space for the season until the beginning of October) or come to buy the abundance of fresh sweet corn, apples, melons, cucumbers and other freshly picked produce.
