More Americans are finding their way into the kitchen these days. And kitchenware has found its way into the American Spirit, the lovely shop in Les Champs which serves as a tribute to American art. The American spirit has brass and etched steel cheese slicers and spatulas which deserve to be hung on walls. By the same artist, David Paul Bacharach, they have knives, pizza cutters and pie crimpers with exquisite polished-wood handles and decorated blades, and wooden spoons in the same stunning rosewoods and zebra woods. THe utensils cost from $8 for the spoons to $125 for some knives, but they are indeed works of art. The shop also stocks mortars and pestles painted with country scenes of elaborate detail, casseroles and teapots and burles wood bowls. And if you have space in your kitchen after it is hung with such handsome tools, there are watercolors of greenhouses which can turn you galley into a gallery.
