Louis Palladin returned to his restaurant at the Watergate, having looked over an offer in Margaux, France, to say that the Margaux restaurant was beautiful, but the place was so quiet he would have nothing to do. "I think, 'I don't want to retire yet,' " said Palladin. "I have a lot of things to give to America yet." His welcome home included news that Cunard -- which runs the Queen Elizabeth II and other cruise ships -- had taken over management of the Watergate, and an old friend of Palladin's from France, Henri Manassero, was consultant for the project. A spate of complaints about Galileo restaurant culminated in one that the restaurant verified. It seems two lunchers complained that their pasta, which they had ordered as an appetizer, was too hard.
