To the Editor:
What a treat to receive the June 26 Washington Post and find the Arts section with Peter Marks's story on new plays ["New Works, New Hope"]. It has been a very exciting theater season, and it's meaningful to have a feature that recognizes the quality as well as the daring of so many of our companies, large and small. It is so important to give this high-profile recognition to those in Washington theater who are incredibly dedicated to their art and their audiences. So significantly, Marks said, "These moments and performances were all brought to you this season via works you couldn't see anywhere else. Great or not so great, Washington should only be blessed with more of them." The preview for next season lends to the excitement and should make theatergoers in our area feel very good about what a special theater town this is. We should all go to the theater more, and we should all support our extraordinary Washington theater artists with funds as well as our presence.
