Stay-at-Home, Soviet Style

American-Soviet Homestays Inc. arranges for Americans and Soviet citizens to spend two weeks in one another's homes. Americans stay with a Soviet family in one of about half a dozen cities for a week, then switch to another city for the second week. The 1990 program for Americans runs through September, with eight trips remaining; the cost is $2,390 from New York, including air fare, accommodations and meals at the host home.

All Soviet host families have at least one English-speaking person or a translator on hand, and the visitors have a room to themselves. For information, contact American-Soviet Homestays Inc., R.R. 1, Box 68, Iowa City, Iowa 52240, (319) 626-2125.
