The poignant story of mother-daughter rivalry and bonding, "Double Platinum," comes to video Tuesday. The movie, starring Diana Ross and Brandy, aired May 16 on ABC.

The movie showcases the Ross-Brandy duet "Love Is All That Matters," written for the movie by by Oscar-nominated composer Diane Warren. Six-time Grammy winner Arif Mardin produced the film.

The 91-minute Columbia TriStar video tells the story of a mother, played by Ross, who leaves Atlanta and her infant daughter and becomes a star. Eighteen years later, the daughter, played by Brandy, seeks a career as a singer and is reunited with her mom.

Pain and anger precede love and bonding.

Ross, who began as the lead singer for The Supremes, had 18 No. 1 hits, second only to the Beatles' 20. Brandy has been nominated for a Grammy four times and has her own TV series, "Moesha." Her current hit single is "Have You Ever?"

Other recent video releases of note include "Upstairs Downstairs: The Third Season," a set containing all 13 episodes of the vintage television series, spanning the period from the death of Lady Bellamy on the Titanic to the coming of World War I. National Geographic Home Video has just released "Land of the Anaconda" ($19.98, 1-800-627-5162). The story of the world's largest snakes, lurking in the mud of South America, it shows a dozen males entwined in a "mating ball" and a large female anaconda giving birth to some 40 wriggling offspring.

On Aug. 3, Milestone Film & Video is releasing "Sweetheart: The Films of Mary Pickford," a five-movie set for $124.95, or $29.95 each. The titles: "Amarilly of Clothesline Alley" (1918), "Stella Maris" (1918), "Daddy Long Legs" (1919), "Tess of the Storm Country" (1922) and "My Best Girl" (1927). Milestone is releasing "Sparrows" (1926) separately at $24.95.

These films include orchestral scores and a documentary narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, noting that Pickford was the first actress to achieve international super stardom, the first to own a major Hollywood studio, the only woman ever to be Hollywood's highest paid performer and the first to have complete control in the making of her films.

Also included are two early Pickford shorts, "Wilful Peggy" (1910) and "The Mender of Nets" (1912), and some rare home movies.
