Clint Eastwood will be the 39th recipient of the prestigious Life Achievement Award at the "9th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards," airing on TNT Sunday at 8 p.m.

In making the announcement SAG President Melissa Gilbert summed up his career and why he won the award with "Clint Eastwood is truly a film icon, a celebrated star of international magnitude.

"His prolific career as an actor and filmmaker demonstrates a total command of the medium. . . . Over the past 42 years he has starred in 44 films, appeared in 55. He is currently directing his 24th motion picture, his 19th as producer. He has translated his civic concerns and business acumen into elected office and public service. . ."

SUNDAY ON THE HISTORY CHANNEL at 7 p.m. the premiere of "Special Presentation: Women Combat Pilots: The Right Stuff," covers the struggles, accomplishments and contributions of women pilots from the Women's Air Force Service Pilots of World War II to today's top female guns.

SUNDAY ON FX at 8 p.m. "The Pentagon Papers" an original movie about Pentagon official Daniel Ellsberg who, in an effort to preserve American democracy, leaked top secret Defense Department documents to the New York Times and The Washington Post--bringing the Vietnam War to the forefront of the American debate.

SUNDAY ON TLC at 8 p.m. "Junkyard Mega-Wars: Flight of the Century," a two-hour "Junkyard" special commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers historic flight premieres. The top three flight teams from Britain, France and the United States compete to see who can build the best vintage airplane using period junk and tools from the 1900s.

SUNDAY ON WE: WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT at 10 p.m. the reality series "Single in the City" opens a new season with cameras following 12 adventurous Los Angeles women on outings with various suitors in the search for Mr. Right.

MONDAY ON LIFETIME at 9 p.m. Virginia Madsen and Lainie Kazan star in the Lifetime movie "Tempted," the story of a busy wife and mother who visits Hawaii and finds herself torn between her desire for an exotic stranger and her family commitments.

TUESDAY ON ANIMAL PLANET at 8 p.m. Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom special "Meerkats Unmasked" provides a ground level view of life as a meerkat in the red sands of the Kalahari in South Africa.

WEDNESDAY ON TV LAND at 9 p.m. John Ritter hosts "TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV." Shows that will be honored include "The Dick Van Dyke Show," which will get the Legend Award, "All in the Family," "Star Trek," "Julia" and "SCTV."

FRIDAY ON TRAVEL CHANNEL at 9 p.m. "Carnival in Rio," the first-ever English telecast of the legendary celebration considered by many to be the greatest party in the world with nonstop music and dance, breathtaking floats, costumes and provocative performers.

SATURDAY ON DISNEY CHANNEL from 6 to 10:30 a.m. "The Book of Pooh Marathon," featuring Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and friends in a series that combines the art of Japanese Bunraku puppetry with computer-generated virtual sets.
