The following groups provide some form of respite care service:

CAPS (Care for Persons With Special Needs) maintains a registry of trained care givers for residents of Fairfax County; families pay per hour, subsidies available. 281-1974.

*Fairfax County Department of Social Service funds some home respite care for eligible families in Fairfax County. 385-8883

*Hebrew Home for the Aged, Rockville, has some respite beds available for Jewish clients, two to 12 weeks per year; private pay, Medicare and Medicaid. 881-0300, ext. 217.

*Jewish Council on the Aging maintains a Respite Care Referral Service, matching registered families with trained in-home caregivers; open to everyone, families pay per hour, subsidies available. 881-8782.

*Montgomery County Department of Social Sevices maintains a registry of trained caregivers in the county; families pay on sliding scale. 468-4368.

*Prince George's County Department of Social Services -- similar to Montgomery County program. 422-0400, ext. 360.

* Nurse Association has volunteers to provide home care. 387-7333.

*Washington Center for Aging Services has two respite beds for those requiring intermediate care, two to six weeks; Medicaid or private pay. 269-1530.

*Family Respite Center. Adult day care for those with memory loss in northern Virginia; daily cost, scholarships available. 532-8899.
