Extended Area Outlook: For Sunday through Tuesday - Outlook calls for periods of snow through mid Monday followed by clearing skies through the remainder of period. Highs should average near 40, lows near 20. Washington's normal temperature range for this time of year is from 43 to 28.

West Virginia: Today - Snow, highs in upper 20s to mid 30s, lows near 20. As much as 2 to 6 inches of snow may accumulate by tonight. Saturday - Partly cloudy, high in 20s.

The National Weather Forecast for Today - Snow will fall from the upper Ohio Valley across the lower Great Lakes region, the north Appalachians and the north half of the Atlantic Coast States. Rain is expected across most of the southern Atlantic Coast states as well as across extreme southern California. There is a good chance for snow from Montana through North Dakorta into Minnestoa. Scattered showers are possible across Arizona, with snow in the mountains. Coudly skies will prevail along the Texas Gulf Coast and through the southeastern states. It will be colder across the northern Plains and northern Rockies and warmer from Texas into the central Plains. Little temperature change is expected elsewhere.

The Council of Governments Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 to 3 p.m. period was 26 for the pollutant; carbon monoxide. Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will improve.
