West Virginia: Today - Variable cloudiness, with a chance of snow flurries, highs will range from the upper teens to near 30, lows from zero to 15 above. Thursday - Cloudy, high near 30.

Extended Area Forecast for Friday through Sunday - Chance of snow Friday, with variable cloudiness over the weekend, highs will be in the 30s on Friday, rising to teh 40s by Sunday, lows will range from the teens to near 30. Normal Washington temperatures for the period are a high of 43 and a low of 28.

The National Weather Forecast for Today: Snow will fall across the lower Great Lakes region, with flurries scattered across western and northern New England. Snow will extend from the upper Missouri Valley and northern half of the Intermountain region, then change to rain over lower elevations along the northern half of the Pacific Coast. Temperatures will remain unseasonably cool. It will be very cold from the northern Plains and Mississippi Valley, through the Ohio Valley and Tessessee Valley, across the south Applachlans, and over the Carolinas.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reeding in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 17 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 0 and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity.The forecast for today indicates the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River stage at Little Falls will remain near 3.2 feet.
