West Virginia: Today - Cloudy, highs in mid 30s to mid 40s, lows in teens. Chance of snow in north and rain in south and eastern panhandle, with chance of snow flurries throughout state tonight. Saturday - Mostly cloudy with chance of snow flurries throughout state, highs in mid 20s to mid 30s.

The National Weather Forecast for Today - Snow or snow flurries will be scattered over the Great Lakes region into western Pennsylvania and in southern Maine. There will be some rain in the central Appalachians, the Carolinas and Georgia. Except for cloudiness and some snow flurries in the Dakotas and Minnesota the nation will be mostly sunny. Most of the nation will continue to have cool weather. However, seasonably mild temperatures will be found along the California and Washington coasts and over the northern and central great Plains.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 to 5 p.m. period was 16 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 0 and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River stage at Little Falls will remain near 3.1 feet through Saturday.
