West Virginia: Today - Cloudy with chance of light rain today, rain likely tonight. Highs in low 50s to mid 60s, lows near 40. Sunday - Rain, high in low to mid 50s.

The National Weather Forecast for Today - Rain will spread across the central and eastern Gulf states with a few thundershowers in Alabama and northwest Florida. Rain is also likely from the middle and lower Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley, Appalachians, southern Greak Lakes region, the middle Atlantic states and the Carollnas. There will also be showers in the northern sections of the Pacific Coast and plateau. Skies will be cloudy across the northern Great Lakes but will be clear or partly cloudy elsewhere. Temperatures will be mild over the eastern third of the nation with some warmer readings along the south Atlantic Coast. It will be a little cooler from the northern and central portions of the Plains and Mississippi Valley into the western sections of the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes. Warmer readings are forecast for the southern Plains and it will remain mild in the West.

The Council of Government's Air Quality index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 to 3 p.m. period was 26 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems sould restrict their activity.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River stage at Little Falls will remain near 3.2 fee through today.
