West Virginia: Today - Partly cloudy, high near 80s. Chance of rain tonight. Wednesday - Chance of rain, highs in upper 70s to mid 80s.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Snow will cover most of the northern Plains and extend over the northern Rockies and change to flurries over the central Rockies. Showers will dampen western Washington. Showers and scattered thunderstorms are forecast from the Appalachians to the Atlantic Coast with rain over the upper Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes. Elsewhere, most skies will be sunny or mostly sunny. It will be mild from eastern Texas eastward through the Mississippi Valley to the Altantic Coast, cooler in the southern and central Rockies and the southern Plains and cooler in the northern Plains. Most of the intermountain region will be cool. Seasonable readings will prevail over the Pacific Coast States.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 to 3 p.m. period was 17 for the pollutant, carbon monoxide. Index values between 0 and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River stage at Little Falls will remain near 4.8 feet through this morning.
