Tne Nation Yesterday: Showers and thunderstorms extended from Colorado and New Mexico through the central and lower Mississippi Valley, across the Tennessee Valey and the southern portion of the Ohio Valley, over northern Alabama and across Georgia. Showers and scattered thunderstorms also extended from the upper Mississippi Valley across the northern Plains into the northern Rockies. Much of the southwest remained clear or partly cloudy, and warm. Skies also remained fair over much of the northeast.

The National Weather Forecast for Today - Showers and thunder showers will reach across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, over the lower three quarters of the Mississippi Valley, across the Central Plains, through the central Rockies to the Pacific Coast from Washington down into central California. Index values between 0 and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activty. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will deteriorate slightly.
