The National Weather Forecast for Today - Showers will scatter over New England and eastern New York.Thunderstorms will continue over much of Florida and Texas through the central and northern Rockies. Showers will scatter widely over northern and cnetral California, the Pacific northwest and the intermountain region into the suthern Rockies. It will be cool east of the Mississippi River also over the southern and central plateau, southern Oregon and the California interior. Unseasonably warm weather is expected in the northern plains and northern Rockies.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showers the high readin in the Washington area during the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. period was 29 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will be good.
