The National Weather Forecast for Today - Scattered showers and thunderstorms, most numerous over the northern and central high Plains, will be spread from the upper Great Lakes and over the Great Plains, the mid Mississippi Valley into Texas. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will cover the northern and central Rockies into the northern half of the intermountain region. There is a chance of showers over the Pacific Northwest and northern Maine. Elsewhere, skies will be sunny. It will not be as warm over the upper Great Lakes region and continue being warm over the south Atlantic and east Gulf Coast states. Except for southern California cool temperatures will prevail from the Rockies to the Pacific Coast. Mild weather will dominate the rest of the country.
