Metrobus has announced route changes beginning Sunday on major bus lines that serve the Dupont Circle area and the new Children's Hospital.

In the Dupont Circle area, some buses that formerly used 18th or 20th Streets NW will begin traveling around the circle and will stop at the Dupont Circle Metro subway entrances on Conneticut Avenue so passengers can transfer more conveniently.

The Dupont Circle changes:

Rtes. 40, 42 and 45: Southbound - from Connecticut Avenue and 20th Street, continue wouth around the circile and back to former route; northbound - from Connecticut Avenue and 18th Street, continue north around the circle to R Street and regular route.

Rte. R2: southbound - from Connecticut Avenue and 20th Street, continue south around the circle, south on 19th Street and to regular route; northbound - from Connecticut Avenue and 18th Street, continue north around the circle to R Street and regular route.

Rte. L2: southbound - no change; northbound - from Connecticut Avenue and 18th Street continue north around the circle, east on New Hampshire Avenue and north on 18th Street to regular route.

The Children's Hospital changes:

Rtes. H1, H2, H6 and R2: westbound - regular route to the Veterans Administration Hospital, then left on 1st Street, right on Michigan Avenue, left on Columbia Road and regular route; eastbound - regular route to Irving Street, right on Park Place, left at 1 st Street, circling the hospital grounds, left on 1st Street and through the Veterans Administration Hospital grounds and back to Michigan Avenue and regular route.
