Atlantic Ocean Beaches from Cape Halteras to Viriginia: Today - Chance of morning showers becoming partly cloudy later in the day, high in the 70s. Thursday - Partly cloudy high in the 70s. Water tempeaatures will range from the mid 60s in the north to the mid 70s in the south.

West Virginia: Today - partly cloudy, highs from the mid 70s to mid 80s and lows near 60. Thursday - Sunny, high in the 80s.

The National Weather forecast for Today - Showers and thundershowers will be scattered from central Texas through the lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee, the Gulf and south Atlantic Coast states into the Virginias. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected over the Rocky Mountain region across the northern half of the great Plains and Minnesota. The remainder of the nation will be sunny to partly cloudy. It will continue to be warm from the south Atlantic Coast through the southern half of the Rockies into Iowa and South Dakota. The rest of the nation will continue seasonably mild.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 37 for the pollutant, photo-chemical oxidants. Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will improve.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River state at Little Falls with remain near 3.0 feet.
