Retired Army Col. Harry A. Dragotta, 58, who served for 34 years before his retirement in June, 1975, died of cancer Sunday at DeWitt Army Hospital at Ft. Belvoir.

Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he entered active duty with the finance department of the Army in 1941. During World War II. Col. Dragotta served in the southwest Pacific, Australia and New Guinea. He later graduated from the University of Illinois and took graduate work in business administration and accounting at Syracuse University.

Some of his major overseas assignments included duty in Paris in 1955-57, with the 8th Army in Korea in 1965-66 and with headquarters of TAS-COM (Theater Air Support Command) in Germany from 1972 to 1975, when he returned here to retire at Ft Belvoir.

Col. Dragotta had served earlier at Ft. Belvoir and with the Defense Supply Agency at Cameron Station. He had maintained a home in Springfield, Va., since 1962.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jane Dragotta, of the home; two sons, Gary S., of Reston, and Jan A., of Springfield; a daughter, Jill F Dragotta, of Hampton Va.; two brothers and three sisters, all of New Jersey, and a grandchild.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the National Cancer institute.
