Coded Farecards containing $8 worth of train rides on the Washington Metro are being sold at outlets through the city.

Metro riders who want their Farecards to have more or less than $8 in them can buy cards for any amount between 40 cents and $20 from vending machines in all Metro stations.

The $8 is an arbitrary amount chosen for ease of handling. The amount is equal to what it would cost for 20 minimum-fare subway rides of 40 cents each.

Metrobus tickets in 13 different denominations are also available at most outlets listed below plus various other locations across the area.
