Extended Area Forecast for Saturday through Monday: Partly cloudy through the period, but a chance of thunderstorms on Monday and Saturday. Highs will be from the mid 80s to the mid 90s, lows from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. Normal Washington temperaturs for the period are a high of 88 and a low of 69.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Isolated thunderstorms will fall along the eastern Gulf Coast and southern plateau region. Skies will be partly cloudy along the Gulf Coast, Great Lakes and over Rocky Mountains. Elsewhere, Sunny skies will prevail. Hot temperaturs will dominate the Eastern and Midwest sections of the country, while mid temperaturs will linger in the northern Rockies. Warm temperaturs will coger the remainder of the West.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. period was 105 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidnats.
