Atlantic Ocean Beaches from Cape May to Cape Hatteras: Today and Tuesday - Mostly sunny and humid, highs in 90s. Water temperatures should range from low to mid 70s in north to upper 70s to near 80 in south.

The National Weather Forecast for Today - Thundershowers will be scattered from the Atlantic Coast states across the Great Lake. The Ohio Valley and westward over the mid and upper Mississippi Valley and also over the Gulf coast region. [WORD ILLEGIBLE] scattered thundershowers will also extend over the Arizona mountains. The Council of Governments' Air Quality index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 1 p.m. period was 115 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 100 and 250 indicate very unhealthy air quality.When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eye problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Potomac River stage at Little Falls will remain near 28 feet through today.
