The National Weather Forecast for Today - Showers and thunder, showers are likely from the northern and middle Atlantic states across the Appalachians.lower Great Lakes. The Council of Government Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 1 p.m. period was 100 for the pollutant, potochemical oxidants Index values between 100 and 249 indicate very unhealthy air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air becomes hazardous and persons with lung, heart and eve problems should restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates the air quality will improve slightly.
