The National Weather Forecast for today - Thundershowers are likely from the northern and middle Atlantic states across the Appalachians and Ohio Valley into the lower Mississippi valley. Scattered thundershowers will fall among the South Atlantic and east Gold coasts in the southern Great Lakes and from the southern half of the great plains into central and southern California. Skies will also be cloudy over Wyoming, north Utah and southeast idaho, but other areas will be clear of partly cloudy. The Council of Governments Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington Area during the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. period has 33 for the pollutant photochemical oxidants. Index vavlues between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100, the air is considered very unhealthy, and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will improve.
