Peoples Involvement Corporation is accepting candidates for election to 19 positions on its board of directors for four-year terms.

The corporation is a nonprofit community organization which provides social services to residents of its target area. That area is bounded roughly by 16th St. NW on the west; the B&O Railroad Tracks NE on the east; Massachusetts Avenue NW on the south; and Harvard Street NW to Michigan Avenue NW on the north. Board members serve on a volunteer basis.

Services provided by the organization include employment referrals, emergency food for families, free clothing, providing commuity meeting space, general social service referrals, consumer assistance, housing counseling and referrals. The Corporation also operates the Community Care drug rehabilitation program, and provides hot lunch for senior citizens at the center, at 1100 Ist St. NW Classes in art, drawing, painting and leather design are also available.

Candidates must be at least 13 years old, and live in the P.I.C. target area. Twenty signatures of residents of that area are required for a person to be nominated as a candidate for the board. Completed petitions must be required to 1100 First St. NW on or before 5 p.m. August 29. For information, call 347-2045.
