Blanche T. Saunders, a civic activist and a resident of the Washington metropolitan area since 1918, died Monday in Gaithersburg, Md. She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Saunders was the wife of the late Robert O. Saunders. She was a graduate of the New York State Teachers COllege in Fredonia, N.Y. but, according to friends, she never taught school.
Since her arrival in the Washington area, Mrs. Saunders were was active in several civic and church organizations.
She was a member of the 20th century Club, the Guild of Sibley Hospital, a member of the board of the YWCA and a a member of the women's board of American University.
She was also a board member of the Wesley Heights Club and a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church.
Mrs. Saunders is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harry A. Ramsay, of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Warren B. Hughes, Of the District; a son, Robert O Saunders Jr., Carlisle, Mass.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grand-children.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Saunders Memorial Fund at the Wilson Health Care Center, 301 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, Md. 20760.
