A 43-year old Capitol Cab Company driver was shot yesterday by one of two men who held him up after riding in his cab from Kalorama area of Northwest to Stanton Road and Bruce Place, SE, D.C. police reported.
Police said the driver, Eugene R. Logan, had taken the two men to Southeast about noon when one of them pulled a gun, robbed him of $20 and then shot him.
Logan, who was grazed in the head fell out of the vehicle and the men drove off in the cab, police said. The cab was recovered shortly afterward a few blocks away. Police said Logan was taken to Greater Southeast Community Hospital by a motorist who saw him fall from the cab.
Yesterday's shooting was the fourth of a Washington taxi driver since Sept. 10. When Vernon Mckinley, 47, of 5009 D St. SE, was fatally shot in his cab during a robbery in the 700 block of Anacostia Avenue NE.
Tuesday night, 55-year-old Julian Taylor, a Yellow Cab driver, was shot and wounded after being robbed of $5 near the 3600 block of Austin Street SE. A day later, William Jones, 37 a Capitol Cab driver, was shot by one of four youths who walked up to the passenger side of his taxi and shot him twice for no apparent reason.
Jones Taylor and Logan all were reported in satisfactory condition last night at Greater Southeast Community Hospital
