Motorists can have their cars' auto month at free five-minute tests throughout Prince George's and Montgomery Counties.
The tests are part of an areawide inspection program conducted by students in vocational education classes at participating high schools and community colleges in cooperation with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
The tests are designed to give motorists information on the condition and maintenance of their car's emission control systems and suggest easy adjustments that can be made to improve the condition of the cars, and save money on fuel costs. They will also let motorists know if their cars are meeting federal air quality standards or contributing to the air pollution problem in the Washington area, which is caused primarily by pollution from cars.
Testing will be done at the following places in Prince George's County on Oct. 22 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bladensburg Senior High Shool, 56th Avenue and Tilden Road. Bladensburg; Crossland Senior High School, Temple Hills and Allentown Roads, Camp Springs; Gwynn Park Senior High School. T.B. Junction. Brandywine; and Laurel Senior High School, Cherry Lane, Laurel.
Locations and dates for auto emission control system testing in Montgomery County have not yet been set. Call 223-6800. ext. 325 for information.
