S. Charles Bennett Jr. 52, a senior vice president and member of the board of directors of the Macke Co., died Tuesday at his home in Bethesda after a heart attack.

He was working with the Fayette Ice Cream Co. in Montgomery, W. Va., as a sales manager, when the firm was acquired by Macke in 1950.

Mr. Bennett then came to the Washington offices of Macke to work for the vending machine and food service division of the company.

As the company expanded, he also was placed in charge of the planning and directing activities of the college and health care, building services, desks and furnishings and laundry services divisions.

Born in Norfolk, Va., Mr. Bennett was a graduate of the University of Virginia. He served as a captain with the Army infantry in Europe in World War II.

He was a board member of the National Concessionaires Association and a member of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Army Navy Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ingrid, of the home; three sons, Charles of Corpus Christi, Tex., Thomas, of San Antonio, Tex. and Robert, of Aspen-Colo; a stepson, William, and a step-daughter, Sheri Bennett, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sol C. Bennett, and a sister, Deena Glazer, all of Washington, and one grandchild.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contribution to the Washington Heart Association.
