Some Metrobus routes have been changes and service added on others added this week, according to transit authority general manager Theodore Lutz.

Routes 71 and M2 will be extended to Buzzard Point, where federal agencies occupy a Southwest office complex. One-bus service on Route V6 has been restored at the request of River Terrace residents, Lutz said.

In addition, the 6:26 a.m. Route 32 service has been extended to Shipley Terrace.

Other bus changes that took effect this week include:

three morning and three evening trips on Route 11A rerouted via National Airport station;

two evening trips on Route 11X redesignated 11A and operated via National Airport;

service to Farragut Square via Route 11Y restored;

changes in Routes 15D and 15E. Lutz' announcement did not specify what the changes are;

an extra trip on Route 27B added from Pentagon at 5:55 p.m.

a 5:50 p.m. trip on Route 29G discontinued, and the 5:56 p.m. trip changed to 5:54 p.m.

one extra trip added on Route 29X leaving the Pentagon at 5:50 p.m.

Other route changes planned to go into effect Oct. 31 in Virginia include:

a trip added on Route 7D from the Pentagon at 6:40 p.m. and the 6:08 p.m. trip changed to operate at 6:10 p.m.;

the 6:54 a.m. trip on Route 12A which leaves the Metrobus garage at Royal Street will be discontinued;

the 6:59 a.m. trip on Route 12B from Braddock and Mount Vernon will be changed to leave Royal Street at 6:48 a.m.;

the 7:40 a.m. Route 16X trip that leaves Walter Reed Drive and Four Mile Run will be discontinued.

Metrobus service on 913 routes was changed when the transit authority opened the subway's Blue Line between National Airport and Stadium-Armory. In a two-stage operation, the agency prepared new schedules for 112 routes, revised or prepared new timetables for 168 routes and published more than a million timetables and flyers describing the new routes for passengers. More than 400 bus stop signs were changed.
