Special Metro farecards that allow handicapped people and senior citizens to ride Metro at reduced rates are now available.
The farecards are sold for $2 each, and allow the user to ride the rail system for half the rush hour fare, regardless of the time of day. Similar reductions are available for senior citizens and handicapped persons.
The Metro farecards can be purchased at the following places in the District:
Northwest - Metro Sales Office, 1422 New York Avenue; Metro Headquarters, 600 Fifth St.; Washington Terminal, 10th Street between Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenues; Mobile Sales Office, 1601 K St. (Tuesdays and Fridays between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.); Mobile Sales Office, E Street east of 19th Street (Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., near the Interior Department); Metrobus Northern Division, 4615 14th St.; and Metrobus Western Division, 5230 Wisconsin Ave.
Northeast - Community Credit Service, 1311 Rhode Island Ave.
Southwest - Mobile Sales Office, L'Enfant Plaza Promenade (Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.); American Security and Trust, 950 S. L'Enfant Plaza.
Southeast - Metrobus Southeastern Division, First and M Streets.
