Julia Clexton Young, 42, a former secretary on Capitol Hill, died of cancer Wednesday at her home in Silver Spring.
Mrs. Young had worked on the staffs of former Sens. Wayne Morse (D-Ore.) and Everett Jordan (D-N.C.), and those of former Reps. Harold Cooley (D-U.C.) and Thomas G. Abernathy (D-Miss.).
Mrs. Young was the daughter of the late Vice Adm, and Mrs. Edward W. Clexton and she was born in Pensacola, Fla.The family moved to Arlington in 1936. She graduated from Immaculata High School, attended George Washington University, and graduated from Strayer College before going to work on the Hill.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring and the board of directors of Grace Church Day School.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene V. Young Jr., and a daughter, Julia M., of the home; four sister, Nancy Harlow, of Lynchburg, Va., Zita Haeser, of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Radtke, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Catherine Loveland, of Potomac, and a brother, Cdr. Edward W. Clexton Jr., of Hampton, Va.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Grace Episcopal Day School Endowment Fund, 9115 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, 20910.
