West Virginia: Today - Partly cloudy, highs from the low 40s to the low 50s, lows in the 20s. There is a chance of snow flurries in the mountains. Saturday - Partly cloudy, high in the 50s.

Extended Area Forecast for Sunday through Thursday: Partly cloudy, on Sunday and Tuesday, chance of rain on Mondaty Highs will be in the 50s, lows from the mid 30s to the mid 40s. Normal Washington temperatures for the period are a high of 55 and a low of 57.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Showers will extend along the northern and extreme southern Pacific Coast. Showers will become snow through the northern half of the intermountain and plateau regions across the northern half of the Rockies into western portions of the Dakotas and Nebraska. Snow will scatter along the Great Lakes with rain across northern Maina. Temperatures will be mid over Florida, southern Texas and much of the southern plateau. It will be cold from the northern half of the Pacific Coast into western portions of the upper half of the Plains. Elsewhere temperatures over the nation will be cool.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. period was 19 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between zero and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will be good.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should be near 4 feet today.
