The National Weather Forecast for today - Snow will reach from New England across northern Appalachians, the Great Lakes, the northern half of the Mississippi Valley, the northern Plains and the northern Rookies. Rains with snow over the mountains will stretch from the Pacific Northwest and northern California over Idaho and northern Utah. Rain will dampen the south Texas Coastal regions. It will be much colder from the lower Great Lakes through the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf Coast and except for the southern half of Florida from the Appalachians to the Atlantic Coast. Extremely cold temperatures will begin to moderate from the upper Great Lakes across the northern Plains, the Rookies and the Mississippi Valley. Cold temperatures will prevail elsewhere except for mid condition over the southwest Deserts.
