The national weather forecast for today: Rain will fall over the West from california to Washington, with snow flurries ranging over the plateau and northern Rockies. Snow is also likely from the Great Lakes and middle Ohio valley into New England, possibly mixed with or changing to rain over southern New England and portions of eastern New York. Temperatures will be mild over most of the northern and central Plains, and the Texas penhandle. Most of the remainder of the country will be cold.

The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain good.
