Extended Area Forecast for Wednesday through Friday: Rain or snow on Wednesday, snow flurries on Thursday and on Friday. Highs will be from the mid 20s to the 30s, lows from the teens to the mid 20s. Temperatures will be colder in the mountains. Normal Washington temperatures for the period are a high of 44 and a low of 28.

West Virginia: Today -- Partly cloudy, highs from the mid 20s to the low 30s. Lows from the mid teens to the low 20s. Snow will develop by the end of the day. Tuesday -- Snow, highs from the 20s to the low 30s.

The National Weather Forecast for today -- Rain, with snow in the higher elevations, will scatter from the Pacific Coast into the Rocky Mountains. Snow will spread from the central plains and Oklahoma across the middle Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley and the central and southern Appalachians. Snow will also fall over most of the Great Lakes. The southern plains and western Gulf Coast will also be cloudy, but the remainder of the Gulf Coast, all of the Atlantic Coast and northern Plains will be clear and or partly cloudy. Temperatures will be colder in the Rockies and much of the Great Plains, but it will be warmer in the Gulf states. Cold weather will persist elsewhere in the East, while the west will be seasonably cool.
