Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay - Variable cloudiness with winds shifting to the northwest at 10 to 20 knots. Waves will average 1 to 2 feet. Visibility will be 5 miles or better.

Extended Area Forecast for Monday through Wednesday-Fair and cold Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday moderating temperatures with a chance of snow or rain. Highs will range from the 20s on Monday to the mid 40s on Wednesday, lows mostly in the teens and 20s.

West Virginia: Today - Occasional lights snow or flurries, windy and cold, high near 20, low from 5 below to 10 above. Sunday - Continued windy and cold with snow flurries possible, highs in the teens to 20s. The National Weather Forecast for today-Snow flurries will continue from the Great Lakes region through northeastern New York, northern Maine, the central Appalachians and the upper Ohio Valley. Showers dampening the Pacific Northwest will turn to snow over the mountains and snow flurries over Montana. Snow flurries over Idaho and the mountains of Utah and Nevada will reach (into) Wyoming, western parts of South Dakota and Nebraska. Sunny to partly cloudy skies will prevail elsewhere. It will be very cold from the Mississippi the Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes region across the Appalachians through Virginia and Georgia. Cold weather will continue in the North Atlantic Coast states and the Great Plains, with mild conditions over extreme southern California and from the sourthwest deserts across extreme south west Texas. Elsewhere seasonable temperatures will prevail.

The Council of Governments Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p. m. period was 19 for the pollutant, photo-chemical oxidants index values between 0 and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should rise from its present stage of 8.3 feet to a crest of 12 feet this afternoon.
