Bowie voters will choose a mayor and councilmembers from the first and fourth districts when they go to the polls on Monday, April 3.
Spedial registration dates have been set by the Board of Supervisors of Elections for each Thursday through March 2, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Free State Mall near the fountain.
Regular registration takes place at City Hall weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, City Hall will be open for registration on Monday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. Qualified residents can also register at the Huntington Community Services Office in the Lion's Club Building weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The deadline to register is March 3 by 5 p.m.
To be eligible to register, residents must be U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old on or before April 3, and have lived within the corporate boundaries of the city for 30 days prior to the April 3 election.
People who wish to register to vote by mail can obtain a "Request for Mail Registration Application" form at banks, post offices, fire departments, the Prince George's County Polls station, and the Bowie library. The form must be received at City Hall or post-marked by 5 p.m. Friday, March 3.
Bowie registration does not qualify the individual to vote in county, state or federal elections. For non-city registration and election information, call the Prince George's County election information office at 627-2811.
