Metro's arrival in Silver Spring will be accompanied by a major expansion of Montgomery County's neighborhood small-bus system called Ride-On.

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 19, the four route Ride-On system will be expanded to 20 routes including replacement service for 10 presents Metrobus routes that are being discontinued or revised.

All of the new Ride-On routes will connect with the Silver Spring Metro station and six will serve the Takoma station. The main Ride-On terminal, at Fenton Street and Wayne Avenue in downtown Silver Spring, will be moved to the Metro station on Feb. 19.

Ride-On will provide a free shuttle, with no transfer required, between the present bus terminal at Wayne and Fenton and the Metro station for the two-week period between the start of Metro operations Monday and the expansion of the Ride-On system. Metrobus riders also will be able to use the free shuttle, since the Wayne and Fenton terminal also is the Silver Spring Metrobus terminal until Feb. 19.
