Because of incorrect information supplied by the Loudoun County general registrar, there were errors in a story last Thursday on elections in Hillsboro. On May 2, voters will elect a mayor, a full five-member town council and a town recorder for two-year terms. Incumbent mayor Byron Farwell is running unopposed for office. Council candidates are Randall C. Allen, Richard R. Hoff, Alexander F. Muir, Martin S. Solliday and Evelyn V. Turbeville. Incumbents are Muir, Solliday, Turbeville and Allen. Peggy Jo Walczak is the town recorder candidate.

May 2 is election day in 14 towns and cities in Northern Virginia. In most places, residents will elect mayors and council members, and in some places, own recorders also will be elected.

In order to vote in the local elections, residents must be registered to vote no later than Saturday. A list of voter registration sites and hours follows.

Those who think there are no surprises in the small town elections should consider the small town of Clifton and its 200 residents.

In the last Clifton election in 1976, when the mayor and the five-member town council were up for election, only two candidates filed - one for mayor and the other for town council. Both lost, and the mayor and town council members were all elected on write-in ballots.

Slightly fewer than 100 people in the town were registered to vote, 57 of them actually voted, and the mayor won by five votes.

The following is a summary of election information in the 14 cities and towns.
