West Virginia: Today - Partly cloudy with rain possible. High will be from the low 70s to 80 lows from the upper 40s to the upper 50s. Wednesday - Partly cloudy, rain possible highs from the low 70s to near 80.

Extended Area Forecast for Thursday through Saturday: Rain will fall on the mountain on Thursday and over the entire area on Friday. Highs will be from the under 60s to the 70s, lows from the upper 40s to the mid 50s. Normal Washington temperatures for the period are a high of 64 and a low of 43.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Scattered showers and thundershowers will reach from northeaster Texas across Arkansas, the Ohio and Tennessee valleys through Virginia and the Carolinas. Rain will extend from Maryland and Delaware across New York and southern New England. Occasional rain and snow will fall in northern New England and upper Michigan. Showers will extend from Wisconsin across lower Michigian Scattreed rain will reach from the Pacific Coast across Mortana into western Wvorning and the Colorana Rockies. Seasonably cool temperatures will continue from northern California and the Pacific Northwest through the northern and central Rockies, the northern Plains, and the northern Great Lakes through northern New England. The rest of the nation will have mild or warm temperature.

The Council of Government Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area outing the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. period was 22 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between zero and 24 indicate good air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individually with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will improve.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should be near 5.2 feet today.
