Five administrative assignments for Alexandria City Public Schools were recently announced by Superintendent John L. Bristol. The assignments, which become effective July 1, are the result of the closing of two elementary schools.
Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson schools are to close at the end of this school year. O'Donald Stafford, principal of Robert E. Lee since July 1976, has been named principal Patrick Henry Elementary School. He has been with Alexandria schools since 1966 as a teacher at William Ramsay Elementary School, an assistant principal at John Tyler Elementary School and a principal at Cora Kelly Elementary School.
Frances Beasley, principal of Patrick Henry for the past two years, will become principal of William Ramsay Elementary School. She has been employed with Alexandria schools since 1958 as an elementary teacher at Mount Vernon, Minnie Howard and William Ramsay schools and as an assistant principal at Patrick Henry.
John Porter, principal of William Ramsay since July 1976, has been named principal of John Adams Middle School. He has been with the public school system since 1969 as a social studies teacher and a crisis resource teacher for Parker-Gray Middle School and as an assistant principal at Francis Hammond High School.
Natalie Vaughn, principal of Stonewall Jackson for the past two years, will become principal of John Tyler Elementary School. She has been with the public school system since 1958 as an assistant principal at Charles Houston, Cora Kelly and Robert E. Lee Schools.
James Akin, principal at John Tyler Elementary School since July 1, 1975, will be assigned to the central administrative office in a special research capacity. He has been with the school system since 1966 a French teacher at Robert E. Lee, Lyles-Crouch and Parker-Gray elementary schools, and as an assistant principal at Jefferson-Houston and Cora Kelly schools.
