All federal, state and local government officers in Virginia and the District, except for those that provide essential services, will be closed Monday, in observance of Memorial Day.
In Maryland, county offices in Montgomery and Prince George's will be closed Monday, while state offices will remain open. Maryland state officers will be closed on Tuesday in observance of the holiday.
Schools in all jurisdictions will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday.
Metrobuses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday with no Metrorail subway service that day. Weekday traffic regulations will not be in effect on Monday.
Banks in Virginia and the District will be closed on Monday, while Maryland banks will observe the holiday on Tuesday.
In Maryland, state officials said that the department of social services, the office of assessment and taxation, other state officers and the circuit and district courts will be open on Monday, but all will be closed on Tuesday.
The postal service will observe the holiday on Monday, and there will be no mail delivery that day except for special delivery. Normal delivery will resume on Tuesday.
Trash collection in the District usually made on Monday is scheduled for Tuesday, and Tuesday collections are scheduled for Wednesday. Trash collections will be made as usual in Virginia and Maryland.
The National Park Service announced that the White House will be open for visitors on Monday.
