Extended Area Outlook: for Monday through Wednesday: Partly cloudy and warm Monday with a chance of showers on Tuesday. Wednesday will be fair and cooler. Highs will be in the 80s and lows in the low 60s. Normal Washington temperatures for the period are a high of 84 and a low of 64.

West Virginia: Today - Sunny, high in the low 80s, low in the mid 50s. Chance of rain near zero through tonight. Sunday - Sunny, high near 90.

The National Weather Forecast for today showers and thunder-showers will extend through northern Florida and along the East Coast into Virginia. Showers will also be scattered across the Pacific Northwest and in the Great Lakes region. Temperatures will remain cool over the Pacific Northwest with seasonably warm to mild temperatures elsewhere.

The Nation Yesterday: Temperatures through western portions of Wyoming continued to melt the snowcover in higher elevations very rapidly, bringing streams to near bank full and minor flooding is expected in low lying areas next week. Showers and an occasional thundershower continued over the Pacific Northwest, from western Montana to the Washington and Oregon coasts. Showers and thunderstorms remained along the eastern half of the Gulf of Mexico coast, across Florida and along the Atlantic Coast.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 2 to 3 p.m. period was 41 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will improve.
